According to the latest information provided by the Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”), Sorrento Road in Escambia County, Florida is currently being studied for a potential future road widening.
This road widening project is in the PD&E (Project Development & Environmental) Phase, which is to be completed by early 2026. The FDOT anticipates holding a public hearing mid-year (2025) to further discuss the development of FDOT’s study.
The purpose of the Sorrento Road study is to determine if and how the roadway should be widened from two to four lanes. The FDOT is also considering adding a multi-use path for pedestrians and bicycles. The total estimated distance of the study is 5.6 miles.
