Mr. Fixel has worked on the majority of the approximately 2,800 property owner and businesses recoveries secured by attorneys with Fixel & Willis. During the last four decades, he has personally handled jury trials throughout the state. For example, Mr. Fixel has conducted jury trials in Bay, Collier, Gadsden, Hernando, Lake, Lee, Leon, Madison, Manatee, Orange, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties. In addition, Mr. Fixel has achieved favorable eminent domain settlements without the necessity of a jury trial in the aforementioned counties, as well as in nearly all other counties in the state of Florida (eg. Alachua, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Columbia, Duval, Escambia, Gulf, Hillsborough, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Marion, Okaloosa, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Polk, Santa Rosa, Seminole, Sumter, Volusia, Washington, Wakulla, and Walton counties).
Mr. Willis has worked on hundreds of private property owner and business recoveries since 1998. During the last three and a half decades, he has personally handled jury trials throughout the state. Mr. Willis has conducted trials in numerous counties around the state, including Alachua, Bay, Collier, Columbia, Duval, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Hamilton, Hernando, Hillsborough, Jackson, Lake, Leon, Orange, Seminole, and Volusia. In addition, Mr. Willis has achieved favorable eminent domain settlements without the necessity of a jury trial throughout the state.
Listed as a Super Lawyer Rising Star in every year from 2013 to 2019 in Florida Eminent Domain Law. This honor is given to Florida attorneys under the age of 40 who have excelled in the practice of eminent domain law. The award is given to no more than 2.5% of qualified lawyers in the State of Florida.
Mr. Chapman began his legal career at Ervin, Varn, Jacobs, Odom & Kitchen, in 1987, a/k/a Ervin, Kitchen, Chapman & Ervin, after serving as a Law Clerk for the Florida Department of Transportation’s Chief of Eminent Domain while in law school. Mr. Chapman practiced with the Ervin firm for 19 years concentrating in eminent domain and other civil and administrative trial practice and appeals. In 2006, he joined Miami-based Equels Law Firm, as a Litigation Director for the Tallahassee office of the firm, and continued to handle a variety of complex civil litigation and eminent domain cases at the trial and appellate level.
Mr. Chapman joined Fixel & Willis as a partner in 2018 to focus his practice in eminent domain, including inverse condemnation trials and appeals. He has represented numerous property and business owners in significant eminent domain cases over his 30 years in practice.
