The Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) plans to improve I-295 in Duval County, Florida from north of New Kings Road to south of the I-95 north interchange. To complete this road improvement project, the FDOT plans to acquire via eminent domain of 25 parcels of private property. Recently, the FDOT set aside over $19 million of future right of way acquisition funds to acquire private property for this I-295 project. The FDOT’s funding is set to be spent in fiscal years 2029 and 2030.
