The Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) released preliminary design aerials for the second segment of its US 231 road widening project that begins south of Pipeline Road plans to North of Penny Road in Bay County.  These design aerials indicate that the FDOT plans to acquire (by eminent domain, if needed) approximately 56 parcels of Bay County property to complete this segment of the US 231 road widening project.  The roadway will be reconstructed to six lanes, five foot sidewalks will be installed on the west side of US 231, and the Florida Gas Transmission line will be relocated east of Bay Line Railroad right-of-way.

The FDOT has budgeted over $5.4 million dollars in funding to design this portion of US 231 during its current fiscal year.  During the design phase, construction plans and right-of-way maps are developed.  My firm closely monitors the evolution of project materials and secures them as soon as they are available.
